New Zealand Vs India - Second innings - Mid innings report

New Zealand Vs India - Second innings - Mid innings report

It’s even stevens between New Zealand and India in the first 25 overs of the second innings at Wellington.  After being brought back into the playing XI, veteran pace bowler Mohammed Shami carried on his knack of taking early wickets for India by dismissing Matt Henry 8 (15) by bowling a quickish short delivery which Henry tried pulling, but went straight into the palms of Kedar Jhadav stading at short mid wicket.

Colin Munro 24 (19) was looking to dominate the Indian bowlers with streaky shots of his own, but was once again dismissed by Shami after chopping it onto his own stumps.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar kept it tight with the new ball from the other end after bowling 5 overs for 24 runs, without nicking a wicket. The man with the momentum after a scintillating knock of 45 from 22, had a bit of a say with the ball in hand as well by getting the big wicket of Ross Taylor on 1 through an LBW, which could have been reviewed by the star batsman, as hawk eye clearly displayed the ball going over the stumps.

Meanwhile, the skipper – Kane Williamson is still out there in the middle, with Tom Latham whose 61 run partnership has slightly given the confidence back to the host nation in this final ODI of the series.

So as it stands, Team India will have to get rid of the ever reliable William who’s looking solid on 39 (70), while being given added support from Latham on the other end at 31 (42), with  New Zealand’s total score on 104 with 7 wickets to spare, as 149 runs are still needed to register a win for the hosts.
