India's mid-inning report - First ODI
There is a reason why Virat Kohli is known as the ‘Best batsman of this world’.
Indian innings has crossed the halfway mark and the Men in Blue have put themselves in a commanding position, thanks to Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
The Virat Kohli-led side started their inning on a disappointing note as they lost Shikhar Dhawan in the second over of the Indian inning. It was debutant Oshane Thomas who picked up Dhawan’s wickets. Short of a length delivery bowled by Thomas, Dhawan cramped for the room as he went for the cut. The ball got big on him and found the inside edge. The ball clattered into the middle-stump.
It was Oshane Thomas’ first wicket in the shorter format of the game.
But then came Virat Kohli and just like always, he took the Indian inning forward with ease. Kohli continued his golden and smashed a half-century in just 35 balls. Kohli was going for the win from the very first ball and if West Indies does not get the wicket of Kohli in coming overs then he singlehandedly will take the match away from the reach of Windies.
Giving full support to captain Kohli was opener Rohit Sharma, who once again proved why he is one of the best ODI batsmen in the whole world. In his usual style, he took his time in the middle and settled himself in before playing the big shots. Rohit completed his half-century in 48 balls and hit 3 fours, 1 six during his inning.
With a strong partnership of 130 runs for the second wicket, both the players have provided a strong foundation to the Men in Blue.
None of the West Indian bowlers managed to mount pressure on Kohli and Rohit. Both played their shots freely and did not give time to the bowlers to gain any kind of momentum.
As it stands out, the Men in Blue have put 168 runs on the scoreboard for the loss of 1 wicket.
India require another 155 runs in remaining 25 overs to win the match.
