Cardiff City vs Arsenal | Preview

Cardiff City vs Arsenal | Preview

Arsenal will look to diminish their miserable record away from home when they travel to 2018-19 campaign’s newly promoted side Cardiff City on Sunday.

Cardiff are yet to score a goal in the Premier League, although they have picked up two points thanks to draws with Newcastle and Huddersfield.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are up and rolling thanks to a 3-1 win over West Ham last week, which followed consecutive defeats at the hands of Manchester City and Chelsea.

The Gunners have concerns regarding defence, which conceded six goals in three matches, but there should also be a level of understanding for the flair and quality which has been present in each attack.

Alexandre Lacazette could be set for his first Premier League start of the season after a positive display after coming from the bench against West Ham could be given a chance alongside Aubameyang in attack.

Mesut Ozil also could return to Arsenal's starting line-up after illness kept him out of their last match against West Ham.

“I am very happy with the player and I think every player can play. They also are working very well every day and demanding of me with their works, to start the games,” Arsenal boss Emery said.

“I like this spirit and also the possibility to play for the first eleven is ok. Then there is a possibility to stay on the bench and then play.”

Meanwhile, Cardiff are without Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Aron Gunnarsson as they seek to open their Premier League goals account, while Junior Hoilett is also a major doubt.

Neil Warnock, who has gained two points from those opening three fixtures said, “I want to do the best we can to give them a game in the other half as well as our own half. We’d get beat anyhow if we just sat back, so we want to give the fans something to cheer.

“We’ve got Chelsea after this, then Man City, there’s going to be times when we’ll be stuck in our own half without trying to be!

“Every game we’ve been in, we could have won. Even Bournemouth, we lost 2-0, but had a great chance to equalise on the hour. And we had chances against Huddersfield and Newcastle. We’ve just got to enjoy it.”
