New Zealand opt to play in UAE in spite invitation to Pakistan
The New Zealand cricket team will be set to play three Test’s, ODI's, & T20’s in the Gulf, after NZCB declined the invitation of playing in Pakistan, offered by the PCB.
Greg Barclay – The Chairman of New Zealand Cricket gave a statement regarding the refusal to play in Pakistan.
"At the end of the day, it came down to following the advisory and the security reports we'd obtained," he said.
"There's no doubt they (PCB) are disappointed. I think they saw a tour by a country like New Zealand as being a great precedent for them to start to build an international programme back in Pakistan," Barclay added. "So they're disappointed but they're good guys, we get on really well with Pakistan, and I think they're fully accepting of the decision that we've reached."
The last time New Zealand visited Pakistan was way back in 2003 for five match ODI series. Pakistan has had to face denials from Australia, England, Sri Lanka, South Africa and India too due to security reasons.
The series between New Zealand and Pakistan will now happen in UAE on October 2018.
