Reddy named 'Motorsport Person of the Year 2017' in FMSCI awards

The 2017 Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) awards in Chennai saw Anindith Reddy take away top honours of the evening after he was named as the 'Motorsport Person of the Year 2017' for his outstanding double achievement.

The Hyderabad-born driver won both the MRF F1600 and the Euro JK single-seater titles in 2017 - successfuly defending his 2016 Euro JK crown. He was also awarded a cash prize of Rs. 2 lakhs, as he collected his trophies for the F1600 and Euro JK series wins as well.

The Chief Guest of the evening was Justice MS Ramesh, while India's FIA World Motor Sport Council representative Gautam Singhania was also in the midst. Both of whom delivered an inspiring speech at the event, along with the FMSCI President Akbar Ebrahim.

The 'Lifetime Achievement' award went to former FMSCI President and K1000 rally winner KD Madan. His award was collected by his son JD Madan and was precded by an anecdotal speech by the FIA APRC's President Vicky Chandhok and also Ebrahim.

In addition, the recently elected FIM Asia's Vice President Sujith Kumar was also honoured, along with YN Bharadwaj and VS Shrikanth. The awards for 'Outstanding Achiement for Women' went to Aishwarya Pissay, Rhyena Bee, Kalyani Potekar and Mira Erda.

While the 'Outstanding Achivement in World Motorsport' went to Gaurav Gill, Aditya Patel, Armaan Ebrahim, Abhilash PG, Jehan Daruvala, Arjun Maini, Kush Maini, Akhil Rabindra, Krishnaraaj Mahadik, Ricky Donison, Nayan Chatterjee, Ruhaan Alva, Shahan Ali Mohsin, Shrikanth Gowda, Raahil Shetty and Yuvraj Singh.

Also, the respective champion drivers, teams and manufacturers in the National Championships in the two-wheel and four-wheel categories respectively for the 2017 season collected their respective trophies.

In a brief talk, Ebrahim laid down the plans for the future of Indian motorsport which will see drifting and autocross National Championships, while cross kart (buggy) and the much discussed rallycross could also be featuring in the calendars.

Most importantly, Ebrahim spoke about bringing the FIA World Rallycross Championship race in India, which has been in discussion since early 2017.
